History of Starr Opticians

Starr Opticians was established in 1937 by Dr. Nathan Starr. He was originally located in downtown Fall River, MA. He operated on South Main St. for many years. At the same time he was a jeweler as well as an optometrist. In 1958, Dr. Starr gave up his jewelry business and concentrated solely on eye exams and dispensing eyeglasses.

In 1970, Howard Starr joined his father in the optical business.  In 1986, Howard moved the business to South Main Place (where the new court house is presently located). Howard and his wife Barbara operated in this location until 1995. In 1995, Howard and Barbara moved to New Boston Rd. where THEY ARE presently located.

In 2001 Rebecca Starr, Barbara and Howard’s daughter, joined the family business. She had previous experience at a large optical chain.



Starr Opticians is currently celebrating its 85th anniversary. We’re proud to offer the same great quality, service and prices it has for these many years.
